Answer
Hi, I’m Hilary Erickson from The Pregnancy Nurse.
Here are the big “signature” things I teach over and over for a smoother birth:
- Move your body: Lots of position changes, upright and forward-leaning, using the birth ball, lunges, toilet sitting, and side-lying to help baby rotate and descend.
- Prepare ahead: Take a solid class, understand induction, interventions, and choices so you are making informed decisions, not last‑minute panic decisions.
- Control what you can: Set boundaries (how often staff comes in, how much monitoring, lights/noise, epidural discussions) and bring comfort items from home.
- Mindset work: Expect labor to be intense, not “easy,” and have coping tools (breathing, focal points, partner scripts) plus flexibility if plans need to change.
Is there a specific part of labor (early labor, induction, pushing, pain management) you want to dive deeper into?
