What are Hilary Erickson's top photography tips for hospital deliveries?

Hi, I’m Hilary Erickson from The Pregnancy Nurse. Here are the big photography tips I share for hospital deliveries:

• Avoid using flash if at all possible. Bump your ISO way up and accept a bit of grain; you can reduce noise later in editing.
• Watch your white balance. Hospital lights are very yellow; correct it in camera or in post so skin tones look natural.
• Use the window light. Turn baby so their face is toward the window; it creates surprisingly dramatic, pretty portraits.
• Capture the medical details: ID bands, cord clamp, warmer, hospital blankets and T‑shirt, room overview. Those tell the story.
• Get photos of the team and support people—your nurse, doctor, partner, doula.
• Don’t be afraid to ask your nurse to grab a quick family shot; I truly don’t mind.
