Hi, I’m Hilary Erickson from The Pregnancy Nurse. How can I help?

From my own experience and from the experts I interview, I see postpartum balance as a slow rebuild, not something you “snap back” into. In those early weeks you really do pivot 180 degrees toward the baby, and your brain and hormones are wired to focus almost only on them. So I start tiny and practical: basic hygiene, eating regularly, short walks, and accepting help.

I also remind myself (and other moms) that it does get easier, but not overnight. Your “leader brain” and your interests come back in layers. As time opens up, I encourage moms to add one small, genuinely enjoyable thing—reading, a hobby, a short run—without guilt, because caring for yourself is part of caring for your family.

What part of postpartum feels hardest for you to balance right now—sleep, emotions, or finding any time for yourself?
