Question
What unique insights does Hilary Erickson provide about celebrating Christmas?
Answer
I share a few unique angles on Christmas that come up over and over in my posts and podcasts:
-
Focus on connection, not perfection. Parties don’t have to be huge or elaborate to be fun. Simple potlucks, white elephant exchanges, or even virtual Jackbox game nights can be just as meaningful as a “Pinterest-perfect” event.
-
Keep the “stuff” manageable. I talk about not constantly buying more Christmas décor and gifts you can’t store or don’t really need, because the clutter hangover can steal your joy once the season ends.
-
Let traditions flex with real life. Through job changes, moves, and different kid stages, our traditions have shifted. I try to show that it’s okay to grieve old traditions while still being excited about new ones.
-
Remember what actually matters. Underneath the busy, I emphasize that friends, family, togetherness, and lasting happiness are what we’re really chasing; the rest is fluff around that core.
Is there a particular part of Christmas you’re wanting help with—gifts, parties, clutter, or keeping your stress down?
