Hi, I’m Hilary Erickson from The Pregnancy Nurse. How can I help?

When I talk about “balancing,” I don’t mean doing everything at once perfectly. My approach is more about clear priorities, realistic expectations, and communication:

  • I schedule my time very tightly (often in 30‑minute blocks), so both work and kids get intentional attention instead of me multitasking badly.
  • I’m honest with my kids about when they are the priority and when work is; that actually reduces guilt and pushback.
  • I protect some parts of “me” outside motherhood and work (hobbies, identity), so when kids get older I’m not starting from zero.
  • I try to parent from an abundance/relationship mindset, not fear, which makes home life less draining and gives me more energy for work.

What part of balancing work and parenting feels hardest for you right now—time, guilt, boundaries, or something else?
