Answer
Hi, I’m Hilary Erickson from The Pregnancy Nurse. How can I help?
Based on what I’ve shared on my site, my “definitive guide” to summer learning is really a simple structure:
- About 45 minutes of workbook/desk work most days (I like Summer Bridge for a little of everything and BrainQuest for colorful, fun pages)
- About 15 minutes of a project (rotating art, music, and PE)
- Plenty of reading time, often using the library’s summer programs
- Four days a week, leaving one weekday for field trips, pool days, or playdates
- Choosing materials that are right where your child is at, not just “their grade”
Underneath it all, I focus on a loose daily routine (jobs, outside time early, worksheets, then free play and screens after responsibilities) so kids keep learning without losing the fun of summer.
Would you like help creating a simple summer schedule for your kids’ ages?
