As a mom of a neurodivergent child, I believe that every child is unique and has their own way of thinking and doing things. It's important to remember that when people hear a child is on the spectrum, they often make assumptions based on what they've read or seen before. But each child is an individual, not a stereotype.

I encourage parents to dig deep for empathy and check their assumptions. Open-minded learning is key to understanding and supporting a neurodivergent child. It's also beneficial to use mindfulness and work on forgiving ourselves as parents. We're all doing our best, and it's okay to ask for help and take care of our own mental health too.

What other aspects of parenting neurodivergent children would you like to know about?
