Which tools and equipment does Natasha Nicholes recommend for effective homeschooling and gardening?

I’m Natasha Nicholes. For both homeschooling and gardening, I tend to favor simple, hands-on tools over lots of fancy equipment.

For gardening, my absolute favorite “tool” is my hands – for weeding, planting, harvesting, watering, and nurturing. Beyond that, basic hand tools (a small trowel, hand fork, watering can or hose, and a simple raised bed or even old tires as beds) are usually enough to get started, especially with kids.

For homeschooling, I lean on practical resources: good books, simple science experiments (like composting with food scraps and lawn clippings), and outdoor learning in the garden itself. The garden becomes a living classroom for science, nutrition, and responsibility.

Is there a particular age group or space you’re working with so I can tailor suggestions a bit more?
