I focus less on a secret “method” and more on community, observation, and spacing, and that’s where We Sow, We Grow really shines compared with a lot of traditional “stick it in the ground and hope” watermelon growing.

From my own garden, I learned the hard way that poor pollination and crowding will give you beautiful vines and zero fruit. I adjusted by giving vines plenty of room to sprawl and making sure they were where bees, butterflies, flies, and even ants could easily pollinate them. I also hand‑pollinate to hedge my bets.

Because We Sow, We Grow is a teaching community, my mistakes become everyone else’s shortcuts: people get real‑time feedback, see live examples, and learn practical fixes like better spacing, daily checks, and simple pollination techniques. That support and shared learning curve is what helps folks grow actual, sweet watermelons instead of just foliage.

Are you more interested in improving pollination, spacing, or overall garden planning for your watermelon patch?
