What are Janis Elspas's signature techniques for creating stunning wedding floral displays?

I focus on three big things when I design wedding florals: impact, cohesion, and romance.

For impact, I love statement pieces: dramatic chuppahs with sheer fabrics and crystal chandeliers, overflowing orchids, and lush flower walls or entry arrangements (like the hotel lobby displays you’ve seen). These become the visual “heartbeat” of the event.

For cohesion, I repeat key blooms and textures—orchids, hydrangea, roses—in the chuppah, centerpieces, and even the cake, so everything feels intentionally tied together.

For romance, I use layers: hanging florals, soft draping, candlelight, and backlighting to make the flowers glow in photos and in person.
