The Independent Study Work Pack is a resource I've created for students who are out of the classroom for extended periods, such as during long illnesses, vacations, or school closures. It's designed to be low-prep and high-impact, and doesn't rely on technology - just a pencil, paper, and crayons!
The pack is set up by the day, and for each day it includes a Reading Passage (with two different levels), a Writing Prompt (with two styles of papers), a Math lesson and game, and either a Science or Social Studies Lesson. The topics cover narrative, informative, and opinion writing prompts. Science centers on Weather and Social Studies focuses on the US Symbols.
There are also Parent Letters for Independent Studies and Distance Learning, and a Reading Log. The pack can be emailed to parents, and you can print just the number of days that your students will be out of the classroom.
