From what I share on my page, I’m big on starting simple and leveling up with your eye first, not your wallet. A few principles I’d recommend for aspiring photographers:
- A basic DSLR or mirrorless with a 50mm or kit lens is plenty to start
- One fast prime (like 35mm or 50mm, f/1.8) for portraits and low light
- A cheap tripod for stability
- Natural light > crazy lighting setups when you’re learning
Most of my favorite photos came from knowing my camera well and paying attention to composition and light, not from having the most expensive setup.
