My seasonal septic system advice mainly shifts around temperature and water use:

Before winter: Pump the tank if it’s due, insulate the drainfield with mulch or similar material, and be sure the tank lid and access points are clearly marked and easy to reach if there’s snow or frozen ground.

During cold months: Protect the drainfield from compaction (no parking or heavy items on it) and keep runoff and snowmelt diverted away to avoid saturation and freezing issues.

Before summer: Pump if you’re near the 3–5 year mark, especially if you expect guests or heavier use.

During warm months: Minimize water usage surges (spread out laundry and showers), keep rainwater away from the drainfield, and schedule routine inspections so small issues don’t derail your summer plans.
