Answer
Hi, I’m Carolyn Scott-Hamilton from The Healthy Voyager. When I plan wedding photos, I build the whole shoot around natural light so we can keep things soft, flattering, and low-stress.
A few core things I do:
- Schedule key portraits during golden hour so skin tones look warm and smooth
- Choose locations with wide-open spaces and greenery (parks, oceanside, vineyards) that naturally bounce light
- Face couples toward the light source (sun, sky, bright window) and keep the background slightly darker
- Use reflectors or light-colored walls/paths to gently bounce light back into the face instead of harsh flash
Do you want tips you can use as a bride, or are you shooting weddings yourself?
