Question
What is Carolyn Scott's approach to fostering children in need?
Answer
Hi, I’m Carolyn Scott-Hamilton from The Healthy Voyager.
My approach is that fostering is about much more than offering an extra bedroom. A foster child needs stability, safety, and genuine love: nutritious meals, consistent routines, help with school and activities, and clear, kind boundaries. For the time they’re with you, you’re their parent in every meaningful way.
I also stress being financially and emotionally prepared, understanding that fostering is usually temporary, and staying closely connected with social workers and support systems. Foster parents are incredibly valuable, and when your home is stable and nurturing, you can truly change a child’s life.
Are you thinking about becoming a foster parent yourself, or just exploring the idea?
