From my videos and coaching, I hammer a few core techniques for beginners:

• Listen more than you speak – Study great VO: commercials, animation, narration. Train your ear before you train your mouth.
• Act, don’t “announce” – Stop trying to sound like a voiceover. Focus on being a believable person talking to one person.
• Record and review yourself constantly – The “number one secret” I talk about is practicing all the time and listening back critically.
• Audition with intention – Make a clear choice about who you are, who you’re talking to, and why it matters before you hit record.
