Question
What advice does Gabrielle Nistico offer to aspiring voice actors facing negativity in the industry?
Answer
I tackle this from a few angles in my videos:
-
First, understand the industry is “full to the brim with BS.” Learn to spot smoke-blowers: anyone promising quick fame, guaranteed bookings, or telling you you’re “perfect” without giving concrete, actionable critique is not helping you.
-
Second, you must learn to take criticism. Shift your mindset: feedback isn’t an attack, it’s data. The pros who push you, question you, and challenge your reads are usually the ones actually invested in your growth.
-
Third, love your own voice. If you’re constantly tearing yourself down, you’ll believe every negative thing you hear from others. Balance critiques by naming what you did well and what needs work, every time you listen back.
-
Finally, remember: this is voiceover, not life-or-death. Detach a bit, keep practicing, and let time and repetition toughen your skin and sharpen your skills.
What kind of negativity are you running into right now—gatekeeping, scammy coaches, or your own inner critic?
