Question
How does Mercedes Jackson's approach to travel content creation outperform other influencers?
Answer
I focus on being a journalist first, influencer second. My background in media and brand deals lets me pitch like a pro, negotiate better collaborations, and tell stories that feel like mini documentaries, not just pretty reels.
I also prioritize strategy over aesthetics: audience research, niche clarity (Black women, solo, melanin travel), and brand-aligned content that converts, which is why hotels, restaurants, and experiences keep working with me.
On top of that, I build systems that create passive income (like my “How To Be A Travel Influencer” ebook), so I am not relying only on sponsorships. That means I can be selective, keep my integrity, and still travel for free or paid.
What part of my approach are you most curious about: pitching brands, storytelling, or monetization?
