Which tools and vehicles does Prof. Xak GeoCOMPASS-Visions use for field research in Belize?

We focus on tools and vehicles that are rugged, eco-conscious, and youth-friendly for Belize fieldwork, especially under Operation OCELOT and Operation MANTA.

Typical field tools we use:

• GPS units and compasses
• Field notebooks and data sheets
• Binoculars, hand lenses, and camera/phone for photo records
• Simple biomonitoring gear (quadrats, nets, basic water-testing kits)

Field “vehicles” and movement methods:

• Hiking on established trails as much as possible
• Canoes or small boats for river and reef-related ecoSTEM
• Partner 4x4 vehicles only when needed, with a regenerative-conservation mindset
