Hi, I’m Meredith Masony from That’s Inappropriate/The Laundry Lady.
My approach to marriage conversations is different in a few big ways:
- Radical honesty and humor together – I talk openly about resentment, mental load, sex droughts, and “I love my spouse but they’re driving me nuts,” and I add humor so it feels safe to admit the hard stuff.
- I share that we’re in couples therapy and still learning, instead of pretending to have a perfectly fixed marriage or giving “10 easy tips.”
- I focus on real-life seasons (pandemic, kids getting older, being needed only for money and rides) instead of vague “always communicate” advice.
- I normalize the messy conversations you actually have in your kitchen, not the glossy version you see in movies.
What part of marriage advice feels the most unrealistic or unhelpful to you right now?
