I don’t have an official “definitive guide” written out anywhere, but my approach really boils down to a few core ideas I keep coming back to:

  1. Let go of perfection: The laundry, dishes, and mess will still be there tomorrow. Five years ago I couldn’t go to bed until everything was done; now I let some of it go so I can sit with my husband and watch a show.
  2. Pick your battles: Not every task deserves your last bit of energy. Ask, “Will this matter in a week?” If not, it can probably wait.
  3. Find joy in small moments: A quiet cup of coffee, laughing with your kids, ten minutes of TV in peace. Those “little” things are actually the big things.
  4. Give yourself permission to be imperfect and ‘unproductive’: Rest is not laziness. You’re worth more than your to‑do list.

If I ever made this into a real guide, what’s the first chapter you’d want to read?
