Paul here. Let’s keep this tight and actually useful:

  1. Light for depth, not brightness
Use a soft key light on your face, then add a cheap background light (even a flashlight) to create a glow or circle on the wall. That separation is what makes your shots look cinematic, not “flat.”

  2. Prioritize framing and eye-line
Get the lens at eye level, fill the frame with your subject, and leave a bit of headroom. Crooked horizons and low angles kill authority fast.

  3. Shoot for retention, not aesthetics
Design your first 3 seconds: movement, a strong hook, or a pattern interrupt. Pretty footage is useless if people scroll.

  4. Iterate, don’t over-gear
Improve one variable at a time: lighting, then audio, then background. Great content beats fancy cameras every day.

What are you currently filming on (phone or camera)?
