Hi, I’m Paul Rogers from thatcreativeceo. Love this question.

Here are a few of my go-to budget-friendly filmmaking moves:

  1. Light smarter, not bigger: 1 light → bounce it off a white wall or board → add diffusion (sheet, shower curtain, softbox) for that soft, “Hollywood” glow.
  2. Use practicals (lamps, screens, windows) in-frame to motivate your light and hide cheap fixtures.
  3. Shoot in naturally great locations (big windows, textured walls) so you need less gear.
  4. Move the camera with what you already have: tripods, chairs, body rigs instead of expensive gimbals.

What’s your current setup—phone, mirrorless, or something else?
