Paul’s one-light hair-light hack gives you clean subject separation without needing extra fixtures. By putting the key at 45° and placing a white bounce behind the head, you turn light spill into a controlled “fake” hair light.

Feathering the key so it hits the board, then moving the board closer or farther, lets you dial in a subtle glow on the hair and shoulders. That creates depth, a more cinematic look, and helps your subject pop from the background while staying flattering and soft.
