With Sirui, I’m a big fan of their anamorphic lineup for getting that cinematic look on a budget. In the clip you’re probably referring to, I’m using the Sirui 150mm T2.9 1.6x anamorphic. That long focal length + 1.6x squeeze gives you:

  1. Strong subject separation
  2. Classic horizontal flares
  3. Wider, more cinematic field of view after de-squeeze

To really make it sing, I pair lenses like this with:

  1. A cinema body or mirrorless that shoots at least 10‑bit log
  2. A solid variable ND
  3. Sticks (tripod) or a gimbal for stability
  4. A simple soft key light for shaping the face
