Hi, I’m Paul Rogers from thatcreativeceo. Love this question.

Here’s my go-to “cinematic glow” recipe from that one-stand book light-style setup:

  1. Put your light on a stand and aim it away from your subject into a reflector (white or silver)
  2. Place diffusion (softbox, shower curtain, diffusion cloth) between reflector and subject
  3. Raise the stand so the light is slightly above eye level and angled down
  4. Keep the light on the “pretty side” of the face (about 30–45° off camera)

You get soft skin, gorgeous roll-off, and zero crunchy shadows, all from one light, one stand, one reflector.

What gear are you working with right now (light type and room size)?
