I focus on subtle, story-driven adjustments rather than heavy effects. A few things I consistently lean on:
- Local dodging and burning to guide the eye toward the subject
- Gentle vignettes (and dialing them back if they start to look obvious or “dirty,” especially on snow or bright backgrounds)
- Enhancing the true point of focus (often the eyes or key texture) while letting less important areas stay softer
- Careful control of glow, HDR, and sharpening so they support the scene rather than distract from it
Is there a specific type of photo you’re curious about (portraits, landscapes, proposals, HDR, etc.)?
