I’m Scott. When I talk about L-brackets “outperforming” traditional flat plates, I’m really talking about speed, stability, and flexibility.

Compared to a standard bottom-only plate, my L‑bracket approach gives you:

  1. Instant switch from landscape to portrait without flopping the ball head over
  2. Better center-of-gravity over the tripod, so less sag and vibration
  3. More consistent framing for panoramas and HDR brackets
  4. Direct compatibility with Arca-Swiss tripods and accessories

On some bodies (like my Nikon D850 setup), I also pair the L‑bracket with a Spider Holster clamp, so I can go from holster to tripod without changing plates or unscrewing anything. That’s a big real‑world time saver in professional work.

What camera and tripod head are you using right now?
