I raise and recommend several breeds that do well in a place like Chicago, especially with our winters. Some of my more “unique” or fun backyard breeds are:
- Ameraucanas / Easter Eggers (they lay those pretty colored eggs)
- Blue Laced Wyandotte
- Silver Laced Wyandotte
- Gold Laced Wyandotte
- Black Australorp
- Buff Orpington
- Brahma
- ISA Brown
- Amberlink
- Barred Rock
- Red Star
