Hi, I’m Paul Ryken from Minimalist Journeys. How can I help?
Summary
For getting around Budapest, I suggest using the excellent public transport network (metros, trams, trolleybuses):
Key Focus Areas
- If you mostly walk, buy a block of 10 single tickets (HUF 4,500). Each ticket is valid for one trip (including metro transfers) up to 80 minutes.
- If you’ll ride a lot in one day, get a 24‑hour Budapest travelcard (HUF 2,750) for unlimited travel.
Neither of these is valid on the 100E Airport Express or the Children’s Railway.
You can buy tickets via the BudapestGO app, but I find BKK ticket machines easier: they have English, take cash and cards, and are at the airport, all metro stations, and major tram/bus stops.
Would you like me to suggest which option suits your specific itinerary?
