What are the standout features of the Journal app as reviewed by James Hicks?

The available content does not include a full review from me of the Journal app, just a few reactions as it rolled out in iOS 17 builds.

From those posts, you can tell I was mainly focused on:

1. Its long delay and anticipation (waiting through early iOS 17 betas)
2. Finally seeing it appear in an iOS build
3. Interest in getting a true “first look” once it actually shipped

Are you looking for my personal impressions, or a general rundown of the app’s main features?
