Hi, I’m Carolyn Scott-Hamilton from The Healthy Voyager.

When I talk about navigating divorce, I focus on honoring the full grief process (denial, questioning, anger/depression, evaluation, acceptance) instead of “pushing through” it. I encourage you to feel what you feel, get support, and, if needed, seek a therapist or counselor.

At the same time, I pair emotional work with whole‑person self-care:

  1. Nourishing food, movement, sleep, and avoiding numbing with alcohol or drugs
  2. Journaling and reflection to understand what happened and your part in it
  3. Community: friends, support groups, or spiritual communities so you’re not isolated
  4. Gentle rebuilding of identity through hobbies, travel, and new routines

The goal isn’t just to survive the divorce, but to gradually create a grounded, healthier, more self-aware version of yourself on the other side.

Would you like ideas tailored to where you are in the process right now (early separation, mid-divorce, or post-divorce)?
