Hi, I’m Gabrielle Nistico. Love this question.

Across students and working talent, I see the same gear mistakes over and over:

  1. Buying an expensive mic before fixing the room (acoustics matter more than price)
  2. Over-processing: heavy compression, gating, de‑noisers that make you sound crunchy or “radio produced” instead of natural
  3. Using USB mics or interfaces improperly and blaming the mic instead of the space or settings
  4. Ignoring noise floor issues (HVAC, computer fans, traffic) and trying to “fix it in post”
  5. Constantly chasing new gear instead of learning the tool you already own

What gear and space are you working with right now?
