Across my videos I hammer this home: the most essential “gear” is not the mic, it’s your ears and your brain — your ability to listen critically, self-direct, take coaching, and run your business like a pro. Tech is secondary to skill.
When you do get gear, I suggest:
- A treated, quiet recording space
- A solid entry-level XLR mic and audio interface
- Closed-back headphones
- Reliable recording software (DAW)
