Bill walks you through a very intentional process in Marketing Mastery:
Choose your customers (your tribe)
List 5 groups of people you either know extremely well or are passionately curious about. These are potential tribes you could serve for years without getting bored.Clarify their biggest challenges
For each tribe, write down their concrete pains: what keeps them stuck, frustrated, or awake at night. Get specific and practical, not vague.Define the value you deliver
Spell out the outcomes you help them achieve: what “before” state they are in now and what “after” state you can reliably help them reach.Find the “sweet spot”
Your niche lives where three things overlap:- The tribe you’re excited to serve
- Their urgent, meaningful challenges
- The value and outcomes you are uniquely equipped to deliver
By the end, you should be able to articulate one clear ideal customer: who they are, what they struggle with, and the result they get from working with you.
