James here. In the drone and GoPro projects you see on the channel, there are not really formal “records” in the world-record sense, but there are a few stats and consistent patterns you can associate with them:
- Gear used
- DJI Phantom (early-generation) drones
- GoPro Hero 3+ Black
- Sony Bloggie (mounted “MacGyver-style” on a Phantom)
- Typical shooting setups
- 720p at 60 fps on the Bloggie for smoother motion
- GoPro Hero 3+ aerial footage, often in wide FOV
- Carbon-fiber blades tested along with a jello vibration-damping mount
- Locations featured
- Pacifica, California coast (including near the state beach)
- Half Moon Bay foggy fields in springtime
So the “record” is really an evolving series of experiments: changing camera angle (eventually pointing straight out), adjusting frame rate and resolution, and testing mounts and props to reduce vibration and improve image quality.
Are you interested in technical performance stats (flight time, altitude, etc.) or more video/production stats like resolution and frame rate?
